Your invention is like your baby, RIGHT…So you want to make that out of the RIGHT plastic? RIGHT?!

(I began this article in January of 2020. Since then the world has changed. I found it interesting how my mindset was then and how it is now.I didn’t change the beginning on purpose. I wish you all health and safety)

I’ve been in the plastic industry for close to 26 years and the one question that always gets my juices flowing is…

”I want to make that out of plastic?”

Recently I met up with a few friends at my local pub, DARBY ROAD in Scotch Plains NJ and we were enjoying, delicious food, fun spirits a good conversation. Not too long after I was approached by soccer parents from my daughters HS soccer team whom I hadn’t seen since the season ended. I was delighted to see them and we began to catch up.

With them was a couple that I had the pleasure to meet for the first time. It turns out they have an invention that they are very excited about. Their immediate question was ”We want to make this out of plastic?”

A inventors invention is a very personal. Which makes complete sense. The inventor has her heart and soul in the belief that her invention will fill a void in society that is necessary and needs to be provided. And I many ways this is true particularly because if there wasn’t a need at least in the inventors world than there would be no reason to invent it. So once this magical idea comes to mind the next thought is what do I do to get this physically in my hands. So often plastic is part of that thought process.

So like any excited inventor you decide to do research and investigate, and soon you realize that unless you are a chemical engineer with I background in elastomers and plastic resins the info might as well be in Martian. Of course you’ll get some easy to read articles which will eventually lead you to buying their product but just because it says perfect for new inventions is it right for yours?

If this is something you have come across give me a call or reach out to me thru my website MaximusPlastics.com. I’ll answer you questions and if it’s something that would be helpful to I’ll write some up about.

(Keeping your baby a secret of course)
